Steps

Remove the battery

  1. Place your console on a clean surface. Optionally, put down a towel under it so that you don’t scratch the screen.
  2. Remove the battery cover. Set aside.
  3. Loosen the battery. It may help to pry it up with a tool, but you can also just shake it out.
  4. Unplug the battery and remove the battery. Set aside.

Removing the stock buttons

  1. Take a look at the inside of the back plate. The buttons in the R36S are held in place by little nubs on back plate that fall into holes in the buttons.

⚠️ This step can be easy, but it’s possible to be tripped up. If you find yourself using excessive force, reevaluate and try again.

  1. You’re going to need to unseat the nubs from the holes as you push out the button. To do this:
    1. Squeeze the wings of the buttons
    2. Push out

Installing the Better buttons

  1. Install the Better buttons into their appropriate spots. Make sure to check out the labels on the front or otherwise make sure that you are matching the right button to the right slot.
    1. Insert the front of the button first
    2. Push down the back
  2. Do this for all of the buttons. If one is not going in right, make sure you have the right button and that you are fully inserting the front first.
