Better Buttons for Miyoo Mini+

4x MX-Compatible Springs (25-45g suggested)

Tools

Philips screwdriver, PH0 or PH1. This needs to be a driver with some reach, bit drivers will struggle with the bottom two screws.

Small flathead screwdriver or spudger. For prying only.

Steps

  1. Gather all tools, Miyoo Mini+, and Better Buttons for Miyoo Mini+

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Remove the battery. Be careful when unplugging the battery, as the JST receptacle can be fragile.

  1. Remove 6 screws from the back of the device and put aside.

  1. Use guitar pick to separate the halves of the shell. Slide the pick along the gap to unclip the two sides.
  2. Set the front of the console aside. Make sure to not lose the power button or the volume rocker.

  1. Using a small flathead screwdriver or spudger, pry up the stock buttons. Place the tool in the small gap next to the clips and rotate.
  2. There is a small tab that will retain the buttons in the shell once they’re unclipped. You may need to gently flex the buttons in order to free this tab from the shell.
  3. Remove all the stock buttons like this and place aside.

  1. Install each of the Better Buttons
    1. Angle the D side of the button into the gap, then rotate so that the clip is aligned.
    2. Place clip bar on the clip in the shell and make sure that the tab on the bottommost edge of the button is inside the shell.
    3. Press clip bar into clip until it seats.
  2. Test out each button to make sure they’re installed correctly. They should wiggle slightly. If one feels stuck, it’s possible the tab is jammed. Uninstall and try again.

  1. Slide on one spring to each of the posts on the bottom of the Buttons.

<aside> 🆘 If you’re having too much trouble with the springs or prefer a button with less feedback, you can leave them out. Everything will still work!
